Managing the impact of construction projects on biodiversity and wildlife conservation

Biodiversity covers a wide range of topics, including species diversity, genetic diversity and ecosystem diversity. As a leading construction technology group, we are aware that our activities potentially impact biodiversity in a variety of ways. We have therefore analysed our business activities and have defined several factors that we can specifically address in order to improve biodiversity protection. A sense of responsibility and innovative spirit for a climate-friendly construction industry

STRABAG is promoting climate protection in the construction industry with its new "Work on Progress" strategy. In concrete terms, this currently includes over 400 sustainability and 250 innovation projects. One particularly effective measure for a climate-friendly construction sector is, for example, the use of CO2-reduced concrete, which can halve CO2 emissions in shell construction. In addition, there is a special focus on the implementation of circular construction, and in the course of this on urban mining, whereby resources are reused and landfill capacities are freed up as a result. Road construction is also becoming more climate-friendly through innovations: Pollutant-reducing asphalt and recycled asphalt make a significant contribution to sustainable roads.
