The first step in constructing a building is comprehensive planning. The next step is to implement the construction process as smoothly as possible. In today's world, it is particularly important to use resources wisely - digital tools can help. STRABAG is using them to set new standards for work processes in the construction industry.

From the first planning step to material procurement and execution, digital construction planning such as BIM2field and the LEAN Construction way of working and thinking provide support on the construction site from the very first planning step. This allows materials to be ordered and used in a targeted manner.

What we do in the area of planning and processes:

STRABAG focuses on planning and processes: Three examples of topics that we are driving forward.

How digital construction planning leads to greater efficiency

Data is essential for making informed decisions and planning and optimising processes efficiently. Digital construction planning has one key advantage: a centralised data platform. The digital BIM model (Building Information Modelling) allows all project participants to access up-to-date information at any time. This significantly improves the transfer of knowledge, minimises misunderstandings and makes paper superfluous. The visual representation also helps to recognise and rectify potential planning errors at an early stage - saving time and money.

BIM2Field has already succeeded in digitally bundling all information relevant to the planning and process of the construction project in one central location. With the digital model, project information is not only available to all parties involved, but is also visible on the construction site. With augmented reality (AR), the 3D information from the model is placed directly on the real construction site. This creates a seamless transition from planning to execution. An optimisation that ensures a smooth process on the construction site and increases the speed at which projects are implemented.

Let's go LEAN: Lean processes for less waste

Effective and therefore sustainable construction management plays a decisive role in the way STRABAG works. A basic principle of sustainable construction management is the use of ecological materials. The focus is on sustainable building materials that are both environmentally friendly and conserve resources.

The LEAN Construction way of thinking and working combines ecological and economic aspects. This is becauseCO2 emissions are also reduced by avoiding waste. Construction companies use the Schüttflix app to order bulk materials quickly, digitally and directly.
Despite established standards, we are constantly working to optimise processes so that efficiency and environmental protection go hand in hand. After all, the careful use of resources is always in harmony with economic and ecological sustainability. This is how the building world of the future will be designed efficiently, sustainably and innovatively.
