Artificial intelligence (AI) in the construction industry is a thing of the future? Wrong! STRABAG is already relying on data and algorithms today.

What artificial intelligence does for us:

STRABAG relies on AI: three examples of measures that we are driving forward

Why is AI useful in the construction industry?

The use of AI enables large volumes of data to be processed quickly and precisely. AI can make informed decisions based on this extensive project data. It also adds objectivity in decision-making processes: Algorithms make suggestions based on objective data, there are no subjective influences. This is particularly important when it comes to analysing the risks of construction projects and selecting sustainable materials. The life cycle costs and environmental impact should be taken into account here in order to ensure efficiency and resource conservation in the long term.

How does STRABAG use AI in a targeted manner?

Generative Design (GD) is used in our building planning: planners can use GD to analyse and evaluate numerous design variants in the shortest possible time. The system quickly generates hundreds of designs that are automatically adapted to optimisation goals and structural specifications. This results in innovative and optimised designs that manual planning might have overlooked. We then select the best option and customise it to best meet the specific requirements of the project.

STRABAG's 3D concrete printing is revolutionising the construction industry with faster and more cost-efficient processes. It enables precise, complex structures and customised designs with minimal use of materials. The integration of AI helps to print faster and utilise the potential of recycled materials in the construction process.

Another example of the targeted use of AI at STRABAG is DARIA, the data-driven risk analysis, a digital solution specially developed for road construction. DARIA enables controllers to recognise financial risks at an early stage and create precise cost forecasts for construction projects. DARIA makes a significant contribution to quality control and makes the costs of construction projects more transparent.

Holistic building planning: from smart planning to sustainable use and maintenance

We promote holistic solutions. AI supports us in the smart planning of construction projects, from realisation to the sustainable use and maintenance of buildings and infrastructure. AI acts as a strategic tool that is already helping us to realise forward-looking construction projects. This makes us safer, faster, more transparent and more sustainable.
